Awful. Around 6:30 pm this evening a fiery crash took place at a Westchester County train crossing as a train struck a black Jeep Cherokee. Six people were killed, and hundreds of others left stranded in pop-up shelters in White Plains. Just a tragedy as well as an absolute mess.
Stories like this are the worst, especially when they hit so close to home. The Metro-North has been or currently is a fixture in the lives of all four of us having fun with this site. It's our main form of transportation to the city whether it be for work, school, fun or otherwise.
It's one of those moments that provides some pretty clear perspective. There's been a million times that I've gotten off the train all pissed off about something that happened at work, or the person I had to sit next to was annoying, doesn't matter whatever it is, we're fortunate each and every time we get home safe.
We're probably averaging about -0.5 pageveiws a day, and this site largely serves simply as an escape for me and my friends. A place for us to be funny and creative and have a good time. That said, the sad stuff like this matters too. Didn't want to let this pass without an acknowledgment of the situation even if nobody reads this besides myself.
Thoughts and prayers to all the victims, and their families. Heartbreaking.
