It was a good thing they won last night, because going into beantown losing 4 in a row is not a good look. Now the team they beat was the Flyers, but the Flyers have been pretty good since the All-Star break and being a Division rival they always play the Isles hard. And honestly fuck the Flyers. Philly teams in general don't get a long with New York teams, so fuck em all really. That northeast competition brings out some good play.
I thought all was lost when the Flyers were up 2-0 halfway through the second. The way the Fishermen had been playing I felt hopeless. However, Jaro Halak really stepped up in this game and was the reason they won. He was not tested with many shots last night, but he stood on his fucking head to save this team. When Johnny T turned the puck over with a minute left in the third it looked like the end, but Halak buckled down and knew what to do, making a great one-on-one save. He also kept the dry Isles afloat in the shootout with some remarkable stops.
Gotta hand it to Cal Clutterbuck as well. He had been going through a pretty bad scoreless streak but put an end to it with the equalizer and the shootout winner, which earns him the pic of this blog. He's always lookin fly with his handlebar.
Let's hope they can keep the ball rolling in Boston, maybe take that city down a peg. I'll be at the game so if you run into me maybe I'll sign your jersey. You don't know it yet, but my autograph is going to be worth boatloads of money once Nardhouse takes off. Watch, you'll see.
