Fuck the Knicks. There’s really not a ton to say, everything
about this season has been a complete and utter DISASTER, with everybody
involved to blame. Dolan, Phil, Fisher, Melo and everybody else, everybody has
been absolutely atrocious.
Jim Dolan- To be completely honest, Jim Dolan could have had
a much worse first half of the season than he has all things considered. If you
want to complain about a single-digit win team having the most expensive ticket
prices in the league, go right ahead but nobody with a brain is listening.
Knick games were a social institution with Mardy Collins and Jerome James
running the pick and roll, those tickets aint coming down any time soon. As for
Dolan, Just keep traveling with your Eagles cover band and stay the fuck out of
the rebuild. That’s all we ask.
Zen Master – Phil has really gotten a pass from the
media/fans it seems throughout this whole ordeal. Of course hindsight is 20/20
but there have been a string of decisions made which at this point in time seem
questionable at best.:
- Tossing Iman Shumpert into the JR trade considering at one time near the beginning of Phil’s tenure Shump might’ve still garnered a first round pick, is a blemish.
- Derek Fisher and the Triangle.
- Signing Melo at max money while employing Lance Thomas and Jason Smith to share the court with him. Nobody saw this kind of season coming in July but it still leave’s Phil’s vision with this team to be questioned. It certainly looks like the soonest this team will contend will be when Melo is nothing but a perimeter presence, well into his 30’s and most likely at odds with the entire fanbase. #Tape. More on Melo to come.
All things considered, it’s still
early to declare the Phil Jackson Era a failure, certainly off to an
inauspicious start though. (Convincing another NBA franchise to take Raymond
Felton may very well be Phil’s greatest feat at the helm. Ho hum.)
Coach Fisher – He was a blah hire, and he’s done about what I think every Knicks fan expected given the amount of talent he’s working with. Team sucks, he’s absolutely nothing special, whatever. The failed implementation of the Triangle is a major concern, but for me, that’s as much on Phil as it is on Fisher. Gimmick system that only works with elite talent. Langston Galloway, as nice a story as he’s been, aint Jordan or Kobe. (Fuck Steve Kerr, but you gotta wonder what would be different if he’d taken the gig.)
Melo – This is a tough one, I’ve been a fan of Carmelo since his Syracuse title run, and was over the moon that he came to NY in 2010, and again when he resigned last summer. With even a little effort from that fraud Tyson Chandler last season, Knicks probably sneak into the playoffs and at least save face a little bit. Through last season, he absolutely seemed to be worth the contract he eventually got from the Knicks…
but Christ ALMIGHTY he’s made it hard to defend him since then, headwear notwithstanding. Injuries don’t help, but top-10 NBA players don’t play on 8-37 basketball teams, it just doesn’t happen. $129M players don’t play for 8-37 teams, it just doesn’t happen. I have no idea where the Knicks go from here, but that better hope Carmelo and Phil can convince at least one top-flight FA to sign here with him. I mean without a running mate of some significance, we’re fucked. Odds are we’ll wind up with Gasol and he’ll get hurt 34 games into next season, and then we’re in the exact same spot as we are now but with less caproom and an older Melo, and being a Knicks fan fucking sucks.
